February 2008 - New Delhi
Exhibition

New Delhi Jantar Mantar

It has been a while since I updated my web site. The time spent on selecting and learning to get the best out of my new printer was one reason for the delay. I will write a separate article about my experiences with the Canon iPF5000. Anyway, my latest trip was to New Delhi where I had a few opportunities to create new work. All pictures from this trip can be found:here.

February 2007 - Mallorca
Exhibition

Spain Pollenca Port

Early February was a good time to have a break from the dreary damp weather we had been enduring in the UK for months. Some fellow photographers from the TPN website and myself decided to go to Mallorca for a short break. We had a great time and shot some interesting scenes. A list of images from this trip can be found here.

November 2006 - Street Stripes
Exhibition

One November Sunday I went out in Bacup to take some photographs. After many days of rain the weather had temporarily cleared and I had to get out of the house. I did not have any preconceived ideas or plans about what to shoot. I have lived here a few years now, so I knew that I was not ..... more

September 2006 - Knoydart
Exhibition

In September I went to Scotland for my first photographic tour. I spent a week based in Knoydart, one of the last bits of real wilderness in the UK, which is only accessible by boat. It was an excellent experience, despite the weather. It makes a real difference when all the time is devoted to photography: you can take as long over a set up as you want.

August 2006 - Turkey
Exhibition

I went to Turkey for a short business trip and visited Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara.

Turkey is a fascinating country, it is mainly muslim, but the great statesman and reformer Kemal Ataturk made sure that the state and religion were separated in the 1920ies. Istanbul is truly the bridge between Europe and Asia, something that is exemplified by the Haghia Sophia.

30 July 2006 - Newcastle, UK
Exhibition

Newcastle is a good place for a weekend break. It deserves its reputation as a city where you can have a good night out. On most nights the centre is full of people intent on having a good time. The sage is a wonderful music venue where some great performances are put on. Even if you don't like the music the building itself is worth a look. During the day there is plenty to see and do as well. The regenerated quay area with its Millenium Bridge and The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art is a good place for a stroll. If the city gets too much for you there are excellent places nearbye to escape to: several castles like Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh or Lindisfarne Island are close by.

30 March 2006 Ronda, Spain
Ronda Building
This picture has just been published in issue 42 (April 2006) of Digital Photographer magazine. Ronda is my favourite place in Spain. It is only 40 miles from the over-developed coast and Malaga airport, but it seems a different world altogether. It is situated among the 'pueblos blancos' of Andalusia and the whole area is a photographer's paradise. There are wonderful landscapes, many beautiful plants and wild animals, unspoilt villages, Moorish architecture, Roman ruins, etc. etc. Oh, I should not forget the wonderful food and wine!

At the moment most of the region is still relatively quiet, but as you can see from this picture that may not remain so for much longer. Developers are looking for opportunities away from the coast and are finding them.
